Background

  • LoRaWAN LMIC is open sourced from IBM and Semtech.
  • Most related companies try to provide some additional value than the open source base provides.
  • The simplest form is RF transceiver integrated with ARM cortex M3 (Mostly STM32L152)
  • A simplistic base station is based on a single transceiver chip combined with a board like a R-Pi in the form of PICO station
  • Most of the base stations use Semtech's 8 Chanel base station chip
  • Few companies integrate the loraWAN with a sensor in a single product
  • Some offer a bundle of base station and services.
