The 2836 is just a variation of the 2824 with an added day wheel, thus the small extra height. The quality of the movements is equal if the variation is equal.  
Just beware that some so called 2836's are actually Chinese clones that were developed for use in fakes,  which could explain the lower cost.
...The ETA 2824-2 movement would cost a watch maker less than $80 bucks
